Dr. Kofinas,
I hope this letter finds you well. I have been thinking of you lately and wanted to write to you again to say thank you.
My daughter turned 1 years old in August. I am blessed to say that she is now a healthy, amazing, spunky little girl. One year ago today I was sitting in the waiting area at NY Presbyterian (Cornell) while my daughter endured 5 ½ hours of open heart surgery. This was followed by several complications and weeks of recovery. It was the worst time of my life, watching my daughter fight so early on in life.
I am thanking you for taking such wonderful care of me and my unborn child. Without you, we would not have known of her cardiac conditions and thanks to you we got her the best surgeon, doctors and care possible.
Thanks to your guidance, she is healthy & fabulous and we are in a wonderful place. She is amazing and so stubborn, never giving up, from the first day she came into our lives. She has taught me so much already and has changed my life, she is my hero at only 1 years old! I believe she will change many lives!
I cannot forget to mention my son who is almost 4 years old and I am proud to say is very intelligent. He has been reading since 2 years and 10 months old and amazes us with his statements, actions and association of events (he also has a very high IQ!) I know you always said the children are who they are because of the genes we give them, but without you keeping an eye on my placenta and his growth, I wonder where we would be and what he would be like!
Thank you for doing what you do and caring so much for every unborn child. You will not be forgotten.
Gratefully,
Amanda
