IʼM HERE TO HELP

Welcome! Iʼm so glad youʼre here and I canʼt wait to help you answer some of the questions no one else has been able to yet. Youʼve tried to conceive naturally, and it didnʼt work. Next, you did the right thing and visited a fertility specialist, but to your dismay, and after several failed attempts, you were told you cannot get pregnant. Iʼm quite certain youʼve been diagnosed with “unexplained” infertility. What a cop out! Donʼt worry, I have answers.

I understand all too well what you may be experiencing right now. You see, Iʼve been helping patients like you for all my professional life. You might wonder how could something so natural be so hard for you and, at the same time, you are told your infertility is “unexplained”?

Please forget what you were told! There is no such thing as “unexplained” infertility. Period! Iʼve found repeatedly that women like you were not tested for the most common and, yet illusive health issues that cause infertility and IVF failures. Youʼve been a victim of what I call the “Cliffs Notes Infertility Workup”. You deserve better!

I assure you that, by coming here, you are in the right place for the first time in your journey to motherhood. By trusting me and my process, we as a team, will identify the problems plaguing you, select the most appropriate and safe treatments, and guide you to finally deliver your healthy baby!

I DONʼT BELIEVE IN “UNEXPLAINED” INFERTILITY AND NEITHER SHOULD YOU

There are many factors that can make it a challenge and yours is most likely a unique combination resulting in two issues: implantation or placental failure. Most unsuccessful pregnancies are traced back to an abnormality in the placentation process and this is exactly what Iʼve dedicated my life to figuring out.

YOUʼVE TRIED IVF AND IT DIDNʼT WORK

1) IMMUNE SYSTEM IMBALANCES AND AUTOIMMUNITY

Autoimmunity has quadrupled in the last three decades; four women suffer from autoimmune issues for every man. The latest research available found that 16% of the population suffers from autoimmune issues.

2) COAGULATION SYSTEM IMBALANCES

Hemorrhages occur when thereʼs too little clotting and thrombosis when too much clotting causes obstruction to blood flow. Any such imbalance in your coagulation system can have detrimental effects on your ability to get pregnant and have a  healthy pregnancy. Thrombosis is far more common than bleeding problems.

3) FERTILITY CENTER QUALITY

Quality of embryo and preimplantation testing, quality of IVF laboratory, and expertise of fertility specialist all impact the outcome.

4) OVERALL POOR HEALTH

Insulin resistance or prediabetes, poor blood vessel health and hypertension,  poor metabolic health, chronic inflammation, and other chronic diseases get in the way of healthy pregnancies. If you havenʼt had a proper examination of pelvic anatomy, semen quality, ovarian function, blood coagulation system,  immune system, metabolic health, and inflammatory conditions, there is no reason you should have been told you have “unexplained” infertility.

The average IVF procedure costs $10,000 and typically only collects three good quality embryos; this cost does not include medication costs, testing cost, and incidental expenses. The most important goals of many IVF Fertility clinics arenʼt always aligned with yours–to have the best chances of conceiving on the first attempt. No testing will ever approach the cost of a single IVF. Proper workup before starting IVF treatments could save you tens of thousands of dollars, not to mention the pain, and suffering.

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS

“Unexplained” Infertility

If you have tried IVF and it was unsuccessful, before trying again consider this first:

1

BASELINE HEALTH

Start With the Simple Stuff. Ask your provider to conduct a baseline assessment of your health. Test for thyroid function, autoimmunity testing, metabolic assessment to rule out insulin resistance, prediabetes, luteal phase defect, vitamin deficiencies, cardiovascular disease, and kidney disease.

2

EGG QUALITY

Evaluate your ovarian function to assure that you still have enough healthy eggs. This requires a Day 3 hormonal testing with AMH and inhibin B for ovarian reserve assessment.

3

IMMUNE SYSTEM IMBALANCES

Ask an MFM or reproductive immunologist to conduct a thorough immune system assessment for you and your partner’s immune system; certain genes your partner passes to your baby, could be detrimental but if known, they can be treated.

4

IT TAKES TWO TO TANGO

50% of all reproductive failures are the result of paternal health imbalances affecting the embryo. Have a thorough evaluation for genetic and acquired/immune thrombophilia of yourself and thorough genetic thrombophilia of your partner. (In cases of a donor egg or a surrogacy, things can be even more complicated, and you will need highly specialized care by a proper experienced specialist.)

5

CHROMOSOME CHECK-UP

Obtain a blood test known as karyotype for you and your partner to make sure your chromosomes are balanced and not causing any defects.

6

WOMB IMFLAMMATION

Womb inflammation is known as chronic endometritis. This could result from a microbial infection, uterine fibroids, uterine adenomyosis, endometriosis, and from an imbalanced endometrial immune system. Uterine inflammation acts as a contraceptive. Having an endometrial biopsy to examine the endometrial immune status is of paramount importance to rule out endometrial inflammatory conditions

YOU CAN DO THIS

If youʼve never been advised to look into these tests, you might feel frustrated and angry after all youʼve been through! Itʼs my greatest passion to answer the “why” behind infertility. I hope this empowers you to continue on your journey to motherhood with not only information but the actions that you can take to help you fulfill your dream of a healthy baby.
